User Manual Overview
About This Manual
This manual is mainly applicable to the following engineers • Network planners • On-site technical support and maintenance staff • Network administrator responsible for network configuration and maintenance For more YANG API reference, please check AsterNOS Campus NETCONF YANG API Reference. For more examples of using NETCONF to configure and manage AsterNOS devices, please refer to document NETCONF Examples.
Overview of NETCONF
Network Configuration Protocol (NETCONF) is a communication mechanism used between a network management system (NMS) and managed devices. A network administrator can use NETCONF to add, modify, and delete configurations of network devices, and obtain the configurations and status of network devices.
AsterNOS Datastores
AsterNOS support running datastore, which stores the effective running configurations delivered through NETCONF. The data in this database can be modified, and the modifications take effect immediately.
Subtree Filtering
XML subtree filtering is a mechanism that allows an application to select particular XML subtrees to include in the \<rpc-reply> for a \<get> or \<get-config> operation. A small set of filters for inclusion, simple content exact-match, and selection is provided, which allows some useful, but also very limited, selection mechanisms.
NETCONF Operations
NETCONF protocol defines a set of operations to modify or obtain information in datastores. For AsterNOS, operations supported situation are as following AsterNOS support to retrieve all or part of a specified configuration datastore via \<get-config>.
Capabilities
This section defines a set of capabilities that AsterNOS has implemented. AsterNOS NETCONF capability is identified with a URI.
